Initial steps for secondary hood latch replacement require removal of the hood latch bolt followed by extraction of the hood secondary latch from the hood section. When installing the secondary hood latch position its tab into the hood slotted area before securing it properly. The Fastener Notice included in Cautions and Notices needs strict implementation. Complete the installation by fastening the hood latch bolt at 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

Reinstall the radiator support sight shield, close the hood, and inspect the latch operation, making any necessary adjustments.

Remove the radiator support sight shield.

Remove the bolts that secure the secondary latch.

Use a suitable tool to crimp the cable clip, securing the hood release cable to the latch.

Remove the primary latch support bolts to the radiator and take out the primary latch with the bracket from the vehicle, followed by removing the bracket from the latch.

Position the tab of the secondary hood latch into the slot on the hood and install the hood latch bolt.

Remove the bolts that retain the latch assembly to the hood and take out the secondary hood latch assembly.

Install the primary latch support bolts to the radiator and adjust the latch left and right until it aligns with the striker pins in the hood.

Position the tab of the secondary hood latch into the slot on the hood.
