Crankshaft Position Sensor

The first step to replace the right side Bank 1 intake camshaft position sensor is to remove the fuel injector sight shield. Correct reinstallation of sensors requires marking their connectors ahead of time because both electrical connectors may be interchangeable yet they must be used with their specific sensor. Remove the right bank intake camshaft position sensor by first detaching its electrical connector and breaking loose and removing the camshaft sensor retaining bolt. A visual check for damage or wear must be conducted on the camshaft sensor O-ring before setup. If the sensor contains any damage it should be replaced before further installation. Apply motor oil to the O-ring followed by right bank intake camshaft position sensor installation using the retaining bolt which needs tightness set to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The camshaft sensor electrical connector needs replacement followed by the fuel injector sight shield reinstallation. Testing the engine operation completes the process where you need to inspect the camshaft sensor for any evidence of oil leakage.

The first step in replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor on Bank 1 (Right Side) Intake requires removal of the engine sight shield. Before removing various sensors from their connectors please mark each connection point to aid in proper sensor installation because the wiring components are exchangeable but they need to be attached to exact sensor locations. Use tools to disconnect the right bank intake camshaft position sensor electrical connector followed by removing its retaining bolt and sensor. Test the new camshaft position sensor O-ring for any indication of wear or damage before installation and replace it if faulty. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring before you install the right bank intake camshaft position sensor by using the retaining bolt which should be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in). After reconnecting the connector you should turn the engine on and verify that the sensor does not leak oil. You must reinstall the engine sight shield as the last step.

First, remove the fuel injector sight shield.

Place the CMP sensor back in position, ensuring to tighten the CMP sensor bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in), then reconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector.

Remove the CMP sensor bolt and the CMP sensor itself.

Reconnect the electrical connector, operate the engine, and check for any oil leaks around the sensor.

Inspect the camshaft sensor O-ring for wear or damage and replace it if necessary.

Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.

Reconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and reinstall the power steering fluid reservoir.

Remove the power steering fluid reservoir bolts and reposition the reservoir for access.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the right bank intake camshaft position sensor, ensuring to mark the connectors for correct installation as they are physically interchangeable.

Install the right bank exhaust camshaft position sensor and its retaining bolt, tightening it to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Reconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and reinstall the power steering fluid reservoir.

Tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

Reconnect the electrical connector for the camshaft position sensor, operate the engine, and check for any oil leaks around the sensor.
