    Q:
How to replace the front air bag sensor on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
A technician must disable the SIR prior to replacing the inflatable restraint front end sensor. When applying power to prevent deployment or injury ensure that the sensor remains firmly installed and that you have avoided causing any strikes or jolts to the device. The first step to replace the sensor requires support of the vehicle while removing the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the electrical connector before disconnecting it. The mounting nut requires loosening so you can slide the sensor forward which allows you to take it out of the keyhole slot in the lower radiator support. Clean the mounting surface first before placing the sensor while pointing the arrow to the front direction. Begin by placing the sensor into the keyhole slot near the lower radiator support before pushing it gradually towards the vehicle's rear. Follow these installation steps: Secure the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque while connecting the electrical connector and installing the CPA. Afterward both safety stands should be removed while you lower the car to enable the SIR system.

    Q:
How to replace the front air bag sensor on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Safety begins by disabling the SIR system before a sensor replacement of the inflatable restraint front end. The sensor should not experience any striking or jolting movements during installation since this can activate the deployment or result in injury. After verifying that the sensor is safely attaining its position you should power on the device. The installation process begins with raising the vehicle then removing the Connector Position Assurance (CPa) from the electrical sensor connector before final connector separation. The sensor needs to be pulled forward by loosening the mounting nut before unlocking it from the keyhole slot that's embedded in the lower radiator support. When installing the sensor wash the mounting surface while directing the arrow to the front of the vehicle. Connect the sensor inside the lower radiator support keyhole slot by pushing it from front to back for appropriate seating. Press the nut down to 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque setting then connect both the electrical connector and reinstall the CPA. End with stand removal followed by lowering the car before activating the SIR system.
