    Q:
How to replace the rear wheel speed sensor ring on those with a GVW greater than or equal to 3900 kg (8600 lb) on Chevrolet Silverado 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drivers need to lift their vehicle and take off the wheel and tire set before beginning work on vehicles with a gvw equal to or greater than 3900 kg (8600 Lb). You must now separate both the rear Wheel Speed Sensor and housing cover above the rear wheel. Using these tools j-2619-01 and j-45857 extract the Axle Shaft components including the axle housing seal in this order: Axle Shaft first, sealing ring, bearing, and Wheel Speed Sensor ring. To install the Wheel Speed Sensor ring use the driver handle j-8092 and tone ring installer j-45860 pushing the tool fully into the axle housing. Insert the Axle Shaft bearing using the j-23690 device which contains the bearing installer tool and a driver handle. Drive the assembly until the bottoming action touches the tube. Push the j-21128 tool into the Axle Shaft seal bore until it touches the tube surface. Attach the Axle Shaft first and then install the rear axle housing and the speed sensor wheel. Reattach the tire and wheel unit then place proper differential oil in the rear axle before lowering the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the rear wheel speed sensor ring on a non-hybrid with a GVW of less than 3900 kg (8600 lb) on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service 2011 vehicles with low gross vehicle weight requires hoisting the vehicle then taking off the tire and wheel assembly before starting. You should first take out the Wheel Speed Sensor and grab the rear axle housing cover before handling the Axle Shaft. The j-2619-01 and j-45857 tools help you pull out the Axle Shaft seal, bearing, and Wheel Speed Sensor ring from the axle housing. The j-45860 tool and the j-8092 handle are used to install the Wheel Speed Sensor ring through the axle housing until the bottoming point of the tool contacts the tube. Insert the Axle Shaft bearing inside the tube using j-23690 - bearing installer and j-8092 - driver handle, drive it in until the tool hits the tube surface. Place the axle pinion oil seal (J-21128) in the tube using the axle pinion oil seal installer until it reaches the proper flush position. Set back the Axle Shaft and its components including the rear Wheel Speed Sensor before installing tires and wheels. Complete the service by pumping the right differential oil into the rear axle and allowing the car to drop down.
