The procedure for front fender splash shield replacement begins by drilling out plastic rivets from the front fascia extension corner to the front fender splash shield when the vehicle has this configuration. You should start by removing the front fender splash shield screws from the front bumper fascia area and the nut from the stud located near the rear of the front fender splash shield and the bolt securing the front tab on the front fender splash shield at the lower engine compartment side rail. Start by drilling the plastic rivet connecting the front rocker panel to the front fender splash shield whenever present followed by the removal of front fender splash shield screws. Fix the splash shield along the fender while reaching over the stud while resting behind the rocker molding. Fasten the nut onto the rear stud of the front fender splash shield by tightening it to 4 Nm (35 lb in). Mount the screws first to front fender splash shield at the front bumper fascia while maintaining 2 Nm of torque but tighten later the screws inserted to the front fender splash shield which need to reach 2 Nm (18 lb in). Install a new plastic rivet to the combination of rocker panel and front fender splash shield before fitting the bolt to the front edge of the shield at the side rail under the engine compartment while tightening to 7 Nm (61 lb in). Install new plastic rivets onto the front fascia extension corner as well as the front fender splash shield.

A mechanic should work on lifting and supporting the vehicle before starting the replacement of the rear fender splash shield. Start by removing the rear tires and wheels before extracting the rocker panel to rear fender splash shield screw together with the quarter panel to rear fender splash shield screws and the lower quarter panel to rear fender splash shield screw. You need the J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover (J 38778) to detach the lower quarter panel to rear fender splash shield push-in retainer. The next step is to remove rear fender splash shield to rear fender palnuts before taking the rear fender splash shield out of the vehicle. Mount the rear fender splash shield onto the rear fender while the palnuts should be tightened to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Begin with installing the lower quarter panel to rear fender splash shield push-in retainer before securing the lower quarter panel to rear fender splash shield screw at 2 N.m (18 lb in). Single out the screws and attach the quarter panel to rear fender splash shield screws before securing them to 2 N.m (18 lb in). The last step includes attaching the rocker panel to rear fender splash shield screw and tightening it to also reach 2 N.m (18 lb in). Place the rear tires together with their wheels before lowering the car down.

The replacement process starts by drilling out plastic rivets between the front fascia extension corner and front fender splash shield when this feature is present in the vehicle. Begin by removing the screws attached to the front fender splash shield at both front bumper fascia and the stud at its rear and then remove the bolt fastened to the front tab of the fender splash shield at the lower engine compartment side rail. Begin work by removing the screws from the front fender splash shield then drill out the plastic rivet from the front rocker panel to the front fender splash shield when this part is present. Place the fender splash shield onto the fender while it extends over the stud underneath the rocker molding. Fasten and torque the nut on this stud located at the rear part of the front fender splash shield until it reaches 4 N.m (35 lb in torque setting). First install two screws from the front fender splash shield to the front bumper fascia then tighten them to 2 N.m (18 lb in) and after that install the two screws into the front fender splash shield while tightening them to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Place a new plastic rivet between the rocker panel and front fender splash shield when present and then insert the bolt at the front fender splash shield front tab positioned at the lower engine compartment side rail while tightening it to 7 N.m (61 lb in). Install the plastic rivets to the front fascia extension corners while using new rivets to fasten them to the front fender splash shield.

Install the lower quarter panel to rear wheelhouse liner push-in retainer, followed by the lower quarter panel to rear wheelhouse liner screw, tightening it to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
