    Q:
How to replace the steering knuckle on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
    A:
A vehicle requires lifting before starting replacement of the steering knuckle. You should detach the front suspension strut yoke assembly from the vehicle while keeping the upper ball stud mounted to its housing. Steer the vehicle so that you can separate the steering knuckle upper ball stud from the steering knuckle assembly. You should loosen the king pin bushing nuts until they reach either the stud beginning or a minimal thread peek out. Fix the steering knuckle in place by striking the king pin nuts with a hammer until the king pin bushing becomes loose but sometimes the knuckle needs to rotate for improved installation access. Anchoring a punch to the king pin bushing allows hammer application that will free the king pin together with the knuckle from the yoke. Afterwards, extract the king pin bushing nuts from the front suspension strut yoke and remove the steering knuckle. Install the front suspension steering knuckle by aligning its upper ball stud correctly in the knuckle and placing the knuckle in the yoke. Fasten the king pin bushing nuts and torque them to 70 Nm (52 lb ft). After installing the steering knuckle upper ball stud nut installation of the front suspension strut yoke assembly should proceed in the vehicle. End the installation procedure by removing the support from below the vehicle and lowering it to the ground.
