Preliminaries for pnp switch replacement start with applying the parking brake and wheel blocking followed by shifting the transmission into neutral. First detach the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever using a flat-bladed tool while you remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Before extracting the pnp switch the technician must first detach all electrical connectors as well as automatic transaxle range selector lever and pnp switch bolts. Install the new pnp switch without rotation because it comes in the neutral position so check that the shift shaft stays in neutral. Analyze shift position through the transmission after you find the bolt holes aligned properly. After aligning the flat surfaces between shift shaft and pnp switch install the pnp switch onto the transaxle and tighten the pnp switch bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The automatic transaxle range selector lever requires reinstallation together with electrical connectors before installing the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Before moving forward inspect the engine readiness while keeping the transmission shifting to park and neutral positions and make corrections as needed. After reinstalling the throttle body air inlet duct you should remove blocks from tires and release the parking brake. Reinstall the throttle body air inlet duct, remove the blocks from the wheels, and release the parking brake.
