The maintenance process starts by removing the hexagon washer head tapping screw from the Dimmer Switch assembly then taking out the washer head screw from this same assembly. Remove first the Dimmer Switch rod from the Dimmer Switch assembly before proceeding to detach the Dimmer Switch assembly from the Ignition Switch assembly. The end step involves disconnecting the Dimmer Switch assembly from the vehicle's wire harness.

    To work and repair the Dimmer Switch, firstly use the modular column holding fixture (J41352) to mount the Dimmer Switch assembly to the Ignition Switch assembly. Next, install hexagon washer head tapping screw on the Dimmer Switch assembly , tighten the screw when it is just finger tight. Then install the washer head screw to the Dimmer Switch assembly as well as tightening it finger tight. Mount the Dimmer Switch rod in the slot on the Dimmer Switch assembly and install a drill of 3/32 inch in the hole on the Dimmer Switch assembly to control travel. Insert the Dimmer Switch assembly onto the column by pressing it against the Dimmer Switch actuator rod wiping out all lash and then removing the drill bit. Then install the hexagon washer head screw and tighten it to 2.5 nm (22 inch lbs) and finally install the washer head screw and tighten to 4 nm (35 inch lbs). Lastly, introduce the vehicle wire harness into Dimmer Switch assembly and remove the Steering Column and modularable column holding fixture (J41352)from the vise.

    Begin the headlamp switch replacement process by removing the left hand instrument panel accessory trim plate and then the headlamp switch bolts. The replacement process starts with disconnecting both headlamp switch connector and dimmer switch connector from the headlamp switch . Link the dimmer switch connector first to the headlamp switch then install the headlamp switch connector to the headlamp switch. Install the headlamp switch bolts according to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions before tightening them to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in). Reinstall the left hand instrument panel accessory trim plate as the last step.
