    Q:
How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the thermal expansion valve (TXV) requires refrigerant recovery using a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). The procedure starts by taking off the TXV mounting stud nut followed by separating the evaporator tube from the TXV and detaching the compressor suction hose. Before removing the TXV all technicians must discard seal washers and uninstall the bolts which hold the TXV in place. Position the TXV after installing new evaporator core fitting seal washers and secure it with the bolts at 7 N.m (62 lb in). The installation process requires new sealing washers on both the evaporator tube and the compressor suction hose fasteners before reattaching these components to the TXV. Secure the TXV nut by torquing it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). The installation process ends in evacuation of the system followed by refrigerant recharging and use of Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to perform fitting leak tests.

    Q:
How to identify and replace the A/C Expansion Valve on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the replacement process of the Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve by recovering the refrigerant first. The procedure starts with removing the mounting stud nut followed by a disconnection of the evaporator tube and the compressor suction hose from the TXV. After removing both the TXV bolts users need to discard the seal washers and finish the process by extracting the TXV. New seal washers need installation on both evaporator core fittings followed by TXV positioning and tight installation of TXV bolts at 7 Nm (62 lb in). Secure the connections of evaporator tube and compressor suction hose fittings using new sealing washers before installation of the TXV. Fasten the TXV nut with a torque of 20 Nm (15 lb ft). Evacuation of the refrigerant system must occur before adding new gas then a leak test of fittings will be performed utilizing the J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector.

    Q:
How to Address Issues with the A/C Expansion Valve on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Beginning any thermal expansion valve (TXV) replacement process requires recovering all the refrigerant first. The first step is to remove the nut from the TXV mounting stud which is followed by detachment of the evaporator tube and then the compressor suction hose from the TXV. First remove both old seal washers from the unit before you extract the TXV by taking out its bolts. Placement of new seal washers should follow before installing the TXV on evaporator core fittings. Secure the Thermal Expansion Valve by tightening bolts to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Install fresh sealing washers onto the evaporator tube fittings and the compressor suction hose before returning those tubes back to their TXV connection. You should put in the TXV nut and secure it by turning to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). The complete system setup is followed by evacuation and charging of the refrigerant system while conducting a leak test on fittings using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).

    Q:
How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for a thermal expansion valve (TXV) requires recovering refrigerant beforehand. To begin the process remove the TXV mounting stud's nut before you separate the evaporator tube from the TXV and detach the compressor suction hose from the same valve. The technician should discard the old seal washers while removing the TXV bolts prior to extracting the TXV. After fitting new seal washers on the evaporator core fittings you should position the TXV. Secure the TXV bolts with a torque of 7 N.m while following the installation procedure (62 lb in). The procedure continues with fitting new sealing washers on both the evaporator tube and the compressor suction hose before refitting these components to the TXV. Secure the TXV nut afterward by tightening it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). The system requires evacuation and charging before performing Halogen Leak Detector-based (J39400-A) fittings check.
