Idle Air Control Valve

The replacement of the Idle Control Valve begins by separating its electrical connector then unscrewing the Idle Control Valve attachment screws. You should never push or pull the Idle Control Valve pintle because worm drive thread damage may occur while liquid cleaning solutions must not be used on the valve. Before continuing with the replacement process remove the Idle Control Valve o-ring then prepare all components by cleaning the sealing surface and the pintle valve seat and air passage. Apply shop towels along with parts cleaning brushes to remove serious deposits although the normal appearance of shiny marks on both pintle and seat remains unchanged. Heavy deposits inside the air passages require that the Throttle Body must be removed before completing the cleaning procedure. Before reuse inspect the Idle Control Valve o-ring for cuts and distortions and replace it if any damages are found. The pintle shape and diameter on idle control valves requires buyers to purchase replicates of the original application because these dimensions are application-specific. Use the thumb to apply light pressure on Idle Control Valve pintle tips to avoid harm; measure between the pintle tip and mounting flange distance; exceeding 28 mm warrants this procedure. Begin by applying engine oil as a lubricant to the Idle Control Valve o-ring and then install the valve assembly followed by attaching screws which should be tightened to 3.0 n.m (27 lb in). Reconnect and reset the electrical connector while leaving the ignition in the on but engine in off state for ten seconds before starting the engine to make sure it operates at correct idle.
