2000 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC system on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: To replace the accumulator in the a/c system, first, apply the a/c refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging (ACR4) system (J 39500-B) so as to recuperate the refrigerant from the a/c system. Remove the retainer and disconnect the evaporator hose from the retainer, then disconnect the negative Battery Cable. Next, off the a/c compressor hose, followed by the accumulator hose from accumulator. Remove the bracket retaining bolt for the accumulator from the vehicle and remove the accumulator from the vehicle. The new accumulator is installed into the bracket after the proper amount of refrigerant oil is filled in it. Install the accumulator bracket retaining bolt and make sure it is snuggly tightened to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Connect the accumulator hose to the accumulator, making sure to check for damage to seal washers before reattaching the a/c lines and hoses; replace the missing and damaged seals when necessary. Install the a/c compressor hose to the accumulator and tighten the connections at the rate of 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Mount the evaporator hose retainer, and then the retainer itself onto the evaporator hose. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable and fill the a/c system. Lastly, test the a/c system for leaks, using electronic halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
