2000 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: First retrieve a/c refrigerant from the system by using the a/c refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging system (J 39500-B). Start by removing the hood latch support bracket and right headlamp assembly (L67 engine only) plus the upper Radiator seal. The condenser installation requires removinng the condenser hose bracket bolt from the Radiator but maintaining only the special length bolt when reinstalling to avoid condenser damage. First remove all condenser to Radiator bolts then extract the condenser out of the vehicle. When installing the condenser use appropriate refrigerant oil before placing it in position. Install the condenser while keeping the unique Radiator end tank bolt in place. Screw the condenser mounting bolts into place while tightening them to 6 n.m torque (53 lb in). The condenser hose bracket and bolt installation requires a 2.5 n.m (23 lb in) torque specification while you must tighten each evaporator hose and compressor hose connection up to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Finish the installation by setting up the upper Radiator seal, right headlamp, and hood latch bracket assembly then recharge the a/c system while using an electronic halogen leak detector model j 39400-a for leak testing.
