2000 Buick Park Avenue A/C Orifice Tube Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Orifice Tube in an A/C system on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The A/C Refrigerant Recovery Recycle and Recharge (ACR4) System (J 39500-B) should be used as the first step to recover refrigerant from the A/C system before A/C Orifice Tube replacement. Separate the A/C evaporator hose at the A/C Orifice Tube location by removing its retaining clips to access the A/C Orifice Tube which should be taken out of the line. Mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil must lubricate the new A/C Orifice Tube O-ring before putting it into the evaporator hose while positioning the short screen toward the evaporator. Install the new A/C Orifice Tube into position and tighten both O-ring connections of the A/C evaporator hose until they reach 24 N.m (18 lb ft). The A/C evaporator hose receives its installation after the retaining clips attach then the system gets discharged before the Electronic Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) performs a leak test.
