2000 Cadillac Catera Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2000 Cadillac Catera?
A: Lift and stabilize your vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel assembly during rear brake caliper replacement. Keep brake fluid contamination away from brake system since hot temperature affects its quality. Position a tube over the bleeder screw to collect brake fluid before removing the device. Push the pistons into the housing slot to make room between the brake pads and rotor surface. Apply the punch by pushing through the brake caliper retaining pins from its outside ends. Remove both the brake caliper spring retainer and brake pads after releasing the pins. First take out the rear brake caliper pipe and later disconnect the brake caliper bolts and remove the caliper. Install the caliper in its proper position then fasten the rear brake caliper bolts to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Connect the caliper pipe to the brake device and tighten its fitting to 16 nm torque. Afterwards place the brake pads in their relevant positions. Insert the first brake pin through the caliper using a punch head and ensure it pierces both Brake Pad holes, then put on the rear brake caliper spring retainer and the second pin. Close the hydraulics before you put on the tire set and lower the vehicle.
