How to service the rear door check on 2000 Cadillac Catera?

Start by taking out both the water deflector along with the door trim panel before servicing the rear door check. When servicing the check link you must disconnect it from the center pillar pin before removing the inner door screw of the check link. Guide the check link through the inner panel access opening located on the door. Follow these steps to install the check link: Pass it through the inner panel access hole after which install both screws while tightening them to 5 N.m (45 lb in). The check link needs to be secure first before installing the pin then water deflector before completing with the door trim panel installation.
