2000 Cadillac Eldorado Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2000 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: First, remove the brake fluid using a syringe and dispose off it without reuse to replace the Brake Master Cylinder. Reinstall the reservoir cap with the diaphragm, then remove the electrical connector from the fluid level sensor switch. Draw out the tube nuts and hydraulic lines before plugging the opened out hydraulic lines not to lose and contaminate the content. Take off the two attaching nuts and pinch closures on the rubber hose near reservoir nozzle with clamp-type pliers to take care of losing fluid without ruining the hose or nozzle. Use some shop cloths to catch any leaking brake fluid. Reposition the master cylinder while moving it forward off the booster studs and lower flange by tilting the reservoir nozzle upward with the nozzle facing up, and also removing the hose clamp and the rubber hose from the reservoir nozzle and attaching it before removing the master cylinder. Installation: be sure and set the master cylinder into position, and then tighten the attach nuts (27 Nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Join the hydraulic lines affixing the tube nuts in 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs) and attach the rubber hose to the reservoir nozzle with a clamp. Reattach the electrical connector to the fluid level sensor switch and refill the master cylinder to the given level with clean brake fluid, but not up to exceeding the mark of the maximum level indicator. Finally, bleed the hydraulic system and check the amount of fluid.
