  A: To replace the rear brake pads, the removal of two-thirds of the brake fluid of the master cylinder should be done while the vehicle is raised and supported. Remove the wheel. Do not use a screwdriver or pry bar to compress the caliper piston because it can knock the piston boot and cause corrosion. Do not exceed 1mm piston travel as this could destroy the internal adjusting mechanism. Use a large c clamp to compress the caliper piston into caliper bore until you get resistance felt without pressing any further than 1mm of travel. Attach the park brake cable to the park brake lever on a caliper and install the park brake cable bracket onto a caliper. Mount the tire and wheel assembly, drop the vehicle and level the brake fluid level. Start the vehicle and apply about 778 n (175 lb.) 3 times on the brake pedal to seat the Brake Caliper Piston and pads and recheck brake fluid level. Finally, the pads and rotors should be burnished.
