How to replace the front door exterior door handle on 2000 Cadillac Eldorado?

The first step to replace the front door exterior handle starts with pushing the window all the way up before eliminating any free movement between the outside handle and the lock components. Start the replacement by taking out the trim panel together with the water deflector. You should start by eliminating the lock rod clip then disconnecting the rods from the lock assembly before disconnecting the electrical connector. Protect the painted surface of the outer door as you remove the two fasteners from their location then extract the outside handle assembly. Install the outside door handle assembly by first placing the door handle gasket then follow installation steps correctly. Fasten the 2 screws at 7 N.m (62 lb in), proceed to connect the electrical connector and attach the rods to the lock assembly while checking for proper linkage handle movement. Check operation of the door handle after closing the clip. After the completion of the replacement install the water deflector followed by the trim panel.
