2000 Cadillac Escalade Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace the 8.6 Inch Axle Rear Wheel Bearing or Oil Seal on 2000 Cadillac Escalade?
A: Remove the wheel and tire, raise the vehicle and remove the oil seal cover at the rear of the axle. After that, take out the Axle Shaft and then remove the Axle Shaft seal and bearing from the axle housing with the Axle Shaft bearing remover (J 23689-A) and slide hammer (J 2619-01). To fix the bearing, use the bearing installer (J 23690) and push it into the axle housing till the bottom touches the axle tube. After that, install the Axle Shaft seal using the axle pinion oil seal installer (J 21128) so that it is pushed all the way into the bore and sits flat against the tube. Carefully set in the Axle Shaft and after that the rear axle housing cover, then put on the tire and wheel assembly. Lastly, put in the correct fluid for the rear axle and then lower the vehicle.
