    A: Begin Lash Adjuster replacement by removing the Camshaft followed by arranging followers in their exact initial positions in case they need to be reused. Apply this step after you extract both Camshaft followers and stationary hydraulic lash adjusters (SHLA) from their respective bores. Inspection and cleaning awaits all valve train components before reinstallation. Before installation add clean engine oil gm p/n 12378006 or equivalent into the stationary hydraulic Lash Adjuster (SHEA) with special attention to the pivot sphere area. Place new shla's into the bores after applying gm p/n 12345001 or equivalent lubricant in generous amounts to both the Camshaft follower roller pocket and valve slot regions. The follower must rest exactly on the valve tip so the Camshaft lobe receives complete contact. The reused followers should be placed back in their original positions. Install the Camshaft followers so the rounded end goes on the shla while the flat end faces the valve tip before mounting the camshafts.
