How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2000 Cadillac Seville?

Start the working process by opening the rear compartment lid and taking off its trim panel. Transfer both the electrical plug and latch release cable from their seating position under the back compartment lid. First take the bolts out that attach the rear compartment lid latch to its compartment. Secure the rear compartment lid latch with bolts into position on the rear compartment lid then fasten them to 25 N.m torque. Reinstall the latch release cable onto the rear compartment lid then plug in the electrical connector into the latch. Place back the rear compartment lid trim panel and shut the rear compartment lid at last.
