How to replace the rear trunk latch without an interior release handle on 2001 Cadillac Seville?

You can remove the trunk latch when it lacks an interior handle by first opening the trunk before taking off the trunk trim panel. Detach the trunk latch electrical connector and remove the latch release cable from the lid. First disconnect the fasteners that join the trunk to its latch assembly and then pull out the latch. Install the trunk latch on the trunk and fasten it with the components while tightening everything to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Install the latch release cable back on the trunk. Also insert and connect the electrical connector to the trunk latch. Put back the trunk trim panel after placing it.
