How to replace the rear liftgate hinge on 2001 Cadillac Seville?

Open the rear compartment lid to start replacing the hinge. Get rid of the rear shelf trim panel and torque rods before starting. Locate and remove the fasteners on both the forward and rear edges of the rear compartment lid hinge which easily separates it from the vehicle. Fit the fresh rear compartment lid hinge into place initially by attaching the forward edge using 25 N.m (18 lb ft) fasteners then screwing in the rear edge fasteners adjusted to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Insert the torque rods first followed by the rear compartment lid before you need to adjust its position. Afterward replace the rear panel shelf and snap the rear compartment shut.
