2000 Chevrolet Camaro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2000 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Draining engine coolant comes first followed by heater hoses/pipes and heater core tube clamp bolt removal before removing the heater core tube clamp and heater core shroud seal and two heater rear case bolts. Begin by disassembling the heater rear case by removing the seal and bolts while gently sliding the case downward to disengage the upper clip before proceeding with its removal. Start by taking out the heater core by first removing both the instrument panel (IP) compartment door and heater core clamp bolt and heater core clamp. Place the heater core into position before tightening the clamp bolt to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in) for installation. Push the heater rear case upward until the upper clip snaps into the left edge of the distributor case before mounting the bolts tightly with 2.0 N.m force (18 lb in). Place the heater core shroud seal followed by the heater core tube clamp and use a torque wrench to tighten the heater core tube clamp bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Reinstall the instrument panel (IP) compartment door after you replace the heater hoses/pipes and perform another engine coolant drain operation.
