2000 Chevrolet Camaro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the knock sensor on 2000 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: To service the knock sensor, drain the cooling system, liberate the wiring harness connector from the knock sensor and pull the sensor from the engine block. When you go ahead and bolt the new knock sensor into position, make certain not to apply thread lock to the sensor's threads, as it is factory coated and extra thread lock will rob it of its ability to detect detonation. Hand start the knock sensor into the engine block and tighten it to 19 N.m (14 lb ft). It will look like 9 in the picture above. After securing the sensor, plug the wiring harness connection and fill up the cooling system.
