2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Pipe Assembly on 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: To replace the coolant air bleed pipe assembly, first drain and recover some of the coolant; be sure to use dex-cool (R) coolant to avoid early engine, Heater Core, or Radiator corrosion, and if using silicated coolant, the engine coolant will have to be changed earlier at 50,000 km (30,000 mi), or 24 months respectively. Next, unbolt the coolant air bleed pipe retaining bolt (115-001) from faint cylinder block and the retaining nut (115-002) from faint exhaust manifold stud. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose and clamp from the surge tank hose then remove the air bleed pipe off the vehicle. For installation, install first to the coolant outlet housing, air bleed pipe and then connect surge tank inlet hose and the clamp on it to the tank hose. Finally, mount the air-bleed pipe and retaining bolt along with the nut, and refill the cooling system.
