2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant pipe on the intake on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Before changing the Coolant Pipe on the intake, drain the cooling system first. Next, remove the upper Radiator Hose and heater hose from races on the radiator inlet pipe, then the surge tank by-pass hose. After that, disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant sensor and remove the generator. Remove the retainer of the radiator inlet pipe and detach the wiring harness from it, and take off the nut and bolt which fix the radiator inlet pipe to the engine block. Remove the inlet pipe stud from the Cylinder Head and then take off the radiator inlet pipe. To install, start by installing the incoming radiator pipe and fasten it to the Cylinder Head using the inlet pipe stud. Make sure you tighten the nut and bolt at the torque values of 14nm (10 ft. Lbs.) as per the fastener notice. Connect the retainer on the radiator inlet pipe with the wiring harness and connect the electrical with the coolant sensor. Finally, reinstall the generator, then reconnect the surge tank by-pass hose, and the upper Radiator Hose as well as the heater hose to the inlet pipe. Finally, fill the cooling system.
