2000 Chevrolet Corvette Door Handle Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front door interior door handle on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The sequence to replace the front door interior handle starts with unbolting the bezel which covers the door handle and continues with removing the door trim panel along with the water deflector. The screw behind the inside manual locking lever of the handle needs removal to detach the handle from the door. By pulling on the handle rear mounting tabs you can detach the rear of the handle from the door before you slide it backward out of the forward door slot. After opening the handle to its maximum position you can detach the lock rods from their position in the anti-rattle retainer. Begin by opening the handle to its maximum position and putting the upper and lower lock rods inside. First place the handle's forward edge at the door's mounting slots and press the back section to lock the door. Secure the handle using its attached screw until the torque reaches 5 N.m which equals 44 lb in. Push the lock rods into the anti-rattle retainer at its black mark on the rod anti-rattle sleeve before putting the water deflector and door trim panel and inside handle bezel into position by guiding the bezel locking tabs through the door opening until the bezel engages securely.
