• Q: How to service and repair the timing chain on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: To service and repair the Timing Chain, fist put the key in the Crankshaft keyway, if it was taken apart then tap the key into the keyway until the two ends of the key seat on the Crankshaft. Then install the Crankshaft sprocket on the front of the Crankshaft having the Crankshaft key aligned with the Crankshaft sprocket keyway. Install the Crankshaft sprocket all the way to the Crankshaft flange using the Crankshaft balancer and sprocket installer (J41565). Rotate the Crankshaft sprocket so that the alignment mark aligns at 12:00 position, and the locating pin of the camshaft sprocket aligns with the camshaft sprocket alignment hole, and also aligning the sprocket teeth with wooden Timing Chain marriages. Position the camshaft and Crankshaft sprocket alignment marks similarly, with the camshaft sprocket alignment located in the 6 o'clock position. Proceed and install camshaft sprocket and Timing Chain and if need be rotate the sprockets of camshaft or Crankshaft to align timing marks. Last, bolt on the camshaft sprocket and tighten to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.).
