2000 Chevrolet Impala Secondary Air Injection Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step to service the Air Injection Pump begins with ignition shutdown followed by raising the vehicle with correct lifting tools. Begin service of the Air Injection Pump by removing both the left wheel assembly and left front fender liner. The service technician should first loosen the clamp on the AIR exhaust pipe hose before detaching the AIR exhaust hose from both the pump and electrical connector. An assembly of AIR pump and bracket can be removed by unfastening the frame-mounted nuts. Secure the AIR pump and bracket to the frame mount through its frame mount nuts while tightening them to 37 lb ft (50 N.m). Secure the electrical connector of the AIR pump and apply slight lubrication to the inner hose edge of the exhaust until mounting on the outlet port. The AIR exhaust hose pinch clamp should be placed around the connection before reinstalling the left front fender liner and left wheel assembly and lowering the vehicle.
