How to service the water pump on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?

Before working on the Water Pump you must drain the cooling system. Begin by taking away the Drive Belt guard and unscrewing Water Pump Pulley bolts before disconnecting the Drive Belt. Unthread and detach both bolts then the Water Pump Pulley from its position. Next move the Water Pump bolts and Water Pump to the side before pulling off the Water Pump Gasket . Prepare the Water Pump mating surfaces by cleaning them before putting on the gasket and Water Pump . Attach the Water Pump bolts and twist them to 10 nm resulting in 89 inch lbs. Torque. Put on the Water Pump Pulley afterward and fasten its bolts to 25 nm representing an 18 inch lbs. Torque setting. Return the drive components to their places and use the system until it reaches a comfortable operating temperature. Check for fluid leaks throughout the procedure.
