How to service and repair a water pump on Chevrolet Lumina? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step in servicing the Water Pump requires draining the cooling system. Start by unpacking the Drive Belt guard and then slightly loosen the Water Pump Pulley bolts before you detach the Drive Belt. Detach the pulley bolts of the Water Pump and uninstall the Water Pump itself along with the Water Pump Gasket . Prepare the Water Pump surfaces thoroughly before placing the gasket and the Water Pump on the engine. Apply the Water Pump bolts and tighten them to 10 newton meters or 89 inch pounds torque. Put the Water Pump Pulley in place and bolt it down while snug at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Put the belt back in place while tightening both Water Pump Pulley bolts. Place the Drive Belt guard back in its position. Stop by filling the cooling system then check for fluid leakage.
