How to Replace the Front Rack and Pinion Steering Gear on 2000 Chevrolet Metro?

Remove carpet, uncover steering shaft. Loosen upper coupling bolt, remove lower bolt, separating shaft from pinion. Raise vehicle, remove wheels, tie rods, then four rack bolts and brackets, extracting assembly. Install rack through wheel opening, refit brackets, bolts, tie rods, cotter pins, wheels, shaft couplings, cover and carpet, tightening bolts and castle nuts to spec.
