In order to service and repair the thermostat housing, the negative battery cable should be disconnected and the engine cooling system emptied. Disassemble the upper radiator hose, water outlet, the thermostat and O-ring. Disassemble the thermostat assembly by removing the thermostat housing and gasket afterwards reassembling the components and reconnecting everything. Recharge the cooling system and reconnect the battery.
