Start the Thermostat replacement process by taking away the fuel injector sight shield and draining part of the cooling system fluid. You need hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move the hose clamp at the water outlet housing before you can disconnect the Radiator Hose from the water outlet housing. Begin by unlocking the water outlet housing bolts and remove the housing along with its gasket and finally extract the Thermostat. Clean both mating surfaces on the water outlet housing and lower Intake Manifold before inspection. Install the Thermostat first and then position the gasket before installing the water outlet housing. After installing bolts to the water outlet housing secure them at 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) tension and attach the Radiator Hose to the outlet housing. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) work to adjust the hose clamp position on the water outlet housing. First complete your coolant fill and then reinstall the fuel injector sight shield while verifying no fluid leaks occur.
