How to replace the disc brake backing plate on 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe?

In order to change the disc brake backing plate, open the parking brake and lift the vehicle. Take off the tire and caliper and the mounting bracket. Unhook the park brake cable, detach the rotor, axle shaft and the parking brake shoe. Unscrew and change the backing plate, this should be installed and reconfigured correctly before being reassembled.
