2000 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Service of the Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor requires disconnecting the electrical connector from the sensor before removing the transmission from the vehicle. Start by removing the engine's Flywheel or flex plate from the Crankshaft before moving on to remove the 2 bolts and sensor wire harness clips or shield. Unbolt the engine block-secured ckp sensor before removing the ckp sensor assembly with its attached wire harness from the vehicle. Through the ckp sensor opening check the signal rotor for missing or damaged teeth. When installing the economy engine management system avoid damaging the sensor wire harness between engine block and transmission. Make sure the wire harness fits correctly in the channel at the engine block's rear. Apply clean engine oil to the o-ring of the ckp sensor before installing it on the engine block with a bolt that reaches 6 n.m (54 lb in of torque). First secure the sensor wire harness to the engine block using a combination of clips and shield and two bolts. Next install the Crankshaft Flywheel or flex plate before adding the transmission and conclude with connecting the ckp sensor electrical connector.
