2000 Chevrolet Venture Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake pads on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To replace the brake pads you must drain two-thirds of brake fluid from the master cylinder then boost the vehicle up and support it properly. Mount the rotor then-fasten it in place with both wheel nuts before you proceed. Put a c-clamp on top of the brake caliper and pull it against the back of the inner Brake Pad until the caliper piston moves into the caliper bore enough to lift off the rotor. Once you take off the c-clamp apply your upper caliper bolt. Rotate the brake caliper downward until you reach brake pads numbers 9 and 10 without detaching it from the caliper bracket. Take brake pads numbers 9 and 10 off their holders inside the caliper bracket while removing both pads from their position. Before pushing the piston into the bore with a c-clamp you must position a piece of wood or the removed Brake Pad between the clamp and piston to shield the brake caliper components. Check the Brake Caliper Bolt boots plus Brake Caliper Piston boot for broken or deteriorated sealing materials before replacing them. Replace the brake caliper bolts if they show signs of corrosion or damage because fresh parts support optimal brake performance. Check the boot exterior using denatured alcohol followed by pushing the piston down to the caliper bottom using a c-clamp while shielding the piston and boot with the old Brake Pad or a block. After placing this section below the piston face, attach the two Brake Pad retainers to the caliper bracket keeping the wear sensor at its top edge. Place the brake pads over their retainers before setting them onto the caliper bracket but watch out for the pin boot during caliper rotation. Apply silicone grease to the upper caliper bolt and boot before fitting and tightening the bolt to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). After unscrewing the wheel nuts put on the tire along with wheel and lower the vehicle. Refill brake fluid until the device reaches its designated fluid mark. Drive the vehicle only when the brake pedal feels solid; press the brake repeatedly till you hit that point before doing pad and rotor smooth work.
