2000 Chevrolet Venture Wheel Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the wheel cylinder on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Before working on the Wheel Cylinder you must securely lift the vehicle in position. Before replacing the Wheel Cylinder clear all dirt from wheel brake valve connections and the bleeder valve surface. Put a protective cap over the brake pipe to stop fluid escaping before you take out the brake pipe nut and Brake Drum. Apply j 38400 Brake Shoe spanner and spring remover (J 38400) to separate brake shoes before taking out the Wheel Cylinder using the two wheel bolts. Thoroughly remove the leftover sealant from both parts before installing the Wheel Cylinder again. Install loctite gm pin (or equivalent) to shoulder face of Wheel Cylinder at back up plate and reinstate j 38400 as tool to insert brake shoes. Use two Wheel Cylinder bolts and turn them to a torque of 12 nm or 110 inch-pounds. Insert the brake brake pipe into the Wheel Cylinder and screw the nut until it reaches 17 nm torque measurement (12 ft. Lbs.). Then end by bleeding hydraulic brakes at the Wheel Cylinder, setting the Brake Drum, and putting back the tire and wheel when lowering the vehicle.
