How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2000 GMC C2500?

To fix the rear brake caliper you must drain 2/3 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder then lift and stabilize the vehicle. Take off the tire with attached wheel now. Place a c-clamp against the caliper piston to push it towards the caliper until its bottoming surface meets the bore. Remove the brake hose by unscrewing the inlet fitting bolt and then uninstall the caliper guide pin bolts (15 series pickups) followed by the caliper guide pin bolts (15/25 series utilities, 25 series pickups) before taking out the caliper. Inspect the caliper assembly. You should replace the caliper on its original position. Disassemble the existing adhesive patch and threads of the 15 series bolt before application of threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 or red loctite (TM). Phyiscally place the caliper guide pin bolts but retain them loose (15 series pickups), including caliper guide pin bolts for 15/25 series utilities and 25 series pickups. For series 15 tighten guide pin caliper bolts to 42 n.m (31 lb ft) while series 25 requires 108 n.m (80 lb ft). Install the inlet fitting bolt onto the brake hose and tighten it to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). After bleeding you need to mount the wheel and tire unit. Take the safety stands off and let the vehicle drop to the ground.
