2000 GMC Jimmy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Inject Check Valve on Bank 1 on 2000 GMC Jimmy?
A: The first procedure for replacing Bank 1 Air Inject Check Valve/Pipe begins with vehicle elevation. The replacement procedure for the 2WD vehicles excludes both steering linkage shield steps but the 4WD vehicles require exclusion of the AIR shield steps. Separate the bolts which mount the AIR shield and extract the shield from service. Start by taking out the bolts which retain both the steering linkage shield and its adjacent shield. Proceed by removing the AIR reactor pipe assembly bolts while also disassembling the assembly together with its gasket. Disconnection of the reactor pipe assembly from the reactor pipes requires spring clamp unfastening only when the check valve requires replacement. Dismantle the check valve from the reactor pipe through pipe locknut loosening while releasing the spring clamp. The reactor pipe must be assembled with the check valve followed by securing the pipe with spring clamp and tightening the locknut to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Maintain a clean surface on the manifold mounting area to prevent emission problems. The procedure requires installation of the reactor pipe and gasket then bolt assembly of the reactor pipe with torque to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) and a torque of 40 N.m (30 lb ft) for the reactor pipe assembly retainer bolt. Connect the reactor pipe assembly to the reactor pipes through use of spring clamps. Two Wheel Drive (2WD) vehicles should follow up by omitting the procedures on AIR shield installation while vehicles with four wheels do not need to perform steering linkage shield installation. Installation of mounting bolts for the AIR shield requires 33 N.m torque before adding the steering linkage shield bolts which also need 33 N.m torque for installation. Finally, lower the vehicle.
