2001 GMC Jimmy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Inject Check Valve on Bank 1 on 2001 GMC Jimmy?
A: The first step to replace the AIR Inject Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 1 involves raising the vehicle. Steps related to the steering linkage shield should be ignored for 2WD vehicles while steps concerning the AIR shield should be omitted for 4WD vehicles. Detach the bolts which secure the AIR shield before removing the shield from its place. The next task requires removing retaining bolts from both the steering linkage shield and shield. Begin by removing the AIR reactor pipe assembly bolts after you remove the assembly along with its gasket. The spring clamps can be released to disconnect the reactor pipe assembly from the reactor pipes only when you need to replace the check valve. The check valve should be detached from the reactor pipe through spring clamp loosening and pipe locknut rotation. For installation purposes connect the reactor pipe with the check valve by installing the spring clamp then tightening the pipe locknut to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Clean all surfaces on the manifold mounting area to avoid emission problems. First install the reactor pipe with its appropriate gasket before securing the reactor pipe assembly bolts to 25 N.m and the reactor pipe assembly retainer bolt to 40 N.m. The reactor pipe assembly requires connection to the reactor pipes using spring clamps. 2WD vehicle operators can omit the procedure for the AIR shield while 4WD vehicle operators should avoid installing the steering linkage shield. Mount the AIR shield correctly then secure bolts at 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Secure the steering linkage shield into its position while adding the mounting bolts which need to be tightened to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.
