Check Valve

The first step for replacing the Air Inject Check Valve/Pipe on Bank 2 requires raising the vehicle. 2WD vehicles do not need steering linkage shield removal with bolts; 4WD vehicles need removal of the AIR shield by removing its bolts. Begin by taking out the reactor pipe assembly bolts then remove the assembly with gasket but only take off the check valve from the reactor pipes by opening spring clamps for replacement purposes. The check valve separation from the reactor pipe requires the spring clamp and pipe locknut to become loose. The installation requires connecting reactor pipe components with spring clamp after tightening the pipe locknut to 10 N.m (89 lb in) when check valve remains in position. Clean the manifold mounting surface before adding the reactor pipe with a gasket followed by tightening reactor pipe assembly bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) while the reactor pipe assembly retainer bolt requires 40 N.m (30 lb ft). Use spring clamps to reinstate the connection between the reactor pipes and the reactor pipe assembly. The AIR shield should be omitted during the installation process of 2WD vehicles but 4WD vehicles need to follow the installation procedure with AIR shield bolts torqued to 33 N.m and steering linkage shield bolts torqued to the same value. Finally, lower the vehicle.

Steering linkage shield and AIR shield removal can be omitted from the 2WD vehicle repair tasks but 4WD vehicles require only the AIR shield to stay in place. Well holders that fix the AIR shield need removal in addition to removing the complete AIR shield system. To begin the installation unfasten both the steering linkage shield retaining bolts alongside the steering linkage shield retaining bolts. Start by taking out bolts from the reactor pipe assembly before removing both the assembly with gasket and the assembly itself. You can disconnect the reactor pipe assembly from the reactor pipes by unlatching spring clamps only when replacing the check valve. It is possible to separate the check valve from the reactor pipe by both releasing the spring clamp while loosening the pipe locknut. To install the equipment connect the reactor pipe with check valve via spring clamp application followed by pipe locknut torquing up to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Clean all debris and carbon buildup from the mounting surface because it affects both emissions and vehicle driveability. Fasten the reactor pipe with a gasket before securing the reactor pipe assembly bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) tension while tightening the reactor pipe assembly retainer bolt to 40 N.m (30 lb ft). The reactor pipe assembly requires connection to reactor pipes through spring clamp installation. The installation of steering linkage shield and AIR shield should be omitted for 2WD vehicles but all 4WD vehicles should exclude the AIR shield during assembly. Position the AIR shield properly before installing mounting bolts that need to be tightened to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Secure the steering linkage shield into position by installing its mounting bolts then tighten them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.

Tighten it to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

Lower the vehicle.
