• Q: How to service the Mass Air Flow Sensor on 2000 GMC Safari?

  A: To service the mass air flow (MAF) sensor one need to first disconnect the negative Battery Cable and also disconnect the maf sensor harness connector. Unclamp the retainer clips on the air cleaner cover, being careful not to drop the maf sensor or damage the screen at the air inlet side of the device. Do not touch the sensing elements and tolerate solvents as well as lubricants from coming into contact with them. Use a little spo (12345884) lubricant or soap-based substitute to help in installation. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the maf sensor by nuts from the hose clamp and disconnection the air cleaner cover from the front of the maf sensor by nuts hose clamps. In installation, the maf sensor's flow arrows should be pointed away from the air cleaner. Mount the maf sensor to the air cleaner cover with a tightening of the hose clamp to 4 n.m (30 lb.). In, then mounting the air cleaner outlet duct to maf sensor with another hose clamp at the same specification. Replace the air cleaner cover by securing the retainer clips, repolishing the maf sensor harness connector, and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable last.
