Mass Air Flow Sensor

The procedure for Mass Air Flow Sensor replacement starts by detaching the pcv valve tube from the air cleaner intake duct followed by disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor and intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connectors. The procedure begins with the removal of the air cleaner intake duct from the housing as well as the Throttle Body. Afterwards, the Mass Air Flow Sensor must be extracted from the duct. The Mass Air Flow Sensor installation starts by placing it on the air cleaner intake duct before securing the air cleaner intake duct to the air cleaner housing and Throttle Body while torquing clamps (2, 6) to 2 n.m (18 lb in). The next step requires connection of the Mass Air Flow Sensor electrical connector along with the iat sensor electrical connector. To conclude this procedure start the engine while checking the air cleaner intake duct for any leakage.

The procedure to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor requires users to begin by turning off ignition then disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector followed by disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor electrical connector. You need to remove the air inlet duct from the Mass Air Flow Sensor along with the Throttle Body before you can extract the Mass Air Flow Sensor from the air filter housing. The Mass Air Flow Sensor should be installed first on the air filter housing and next the air inlet duct should attach to the Mass Air Flow Sensor and Throttle Body. The technician must reconnect the iat sensor electrical connector and the Mass Air Flow Sensor electrical connector. The last step includes starting the engine while checking for leaks in the air intake duct during engine idle.

Before starting the replacement procedure the first step is to turn the ignition OFF and then disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor harness connector. Liberate the Mass Air Flow Sensor from its location on the air cleaner cover and air cleaner outlet duct by removing the hose clamps. Before installation of the new Mass Air Flow Sensor be certain to properly place it where it faces forward toward the engine while pointing towards the arrow marker on the sensor. The air cleaner cover and outlet duct require attachment to the Mass Air Flow Sensor following which you can reconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor harness.

You must begin with disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) sensor harness connector and turning OFF ignition before replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Unclip the air cleaner cover retainer then free the outlet duct from the Mass Air Flow Sensor by loosening the clamp. Take care to handle the Mass Air Flow Sensor because dropping it can lead to damage while avoiding both screen damage on the air inlet end and contact with the sensing elements. Keep solvents and lubricants away from sensor elements then apply a small droplet of soap water as an installation aid. Disconnection of the air cleaner cover from the Mass Air Flow Sensor occurs by loosening its hose clamp at the front. The Mass Air Flow Sensor must be installed onto the air cleaner cover using a hose clamp torque of 4 N.m (35 lb in) while maintaining the flow arrows directed toward the air cleaner. Connect the Mass Air Flow Sensor to the air cleaner outlet duct by tightening the hose clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Follow the installation by attaching the air cleaner cover retainer clips and finishing with Mass Air Flow Sensor harness connector connection.

Service of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor begins after turning off the ignition. Begin the maf sensor service by disconnecting both the iat sensor electrical connector and maf sensor electrical connector. Begin by disconnecting the maf sensor from both the Throttle Body and the air inlet duct then detach the maf sensor from the air filter housing. Installation requires the maf sensor to go back into the air filter housing after which the air inlet duct should be reinstalled between the maf sensor and Throttle Body. Reattach the electrical connectors for maf sensor and intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.

Start by turning off the ignition then disconnect the MAF sensor harness connector while following Mass Air Flow (MAF) Handling Notice guidance from Service Precautions. You should disconnect the MAF sensor from its positions on the air cleaner cover and outlet duct through hose clamp loosening. The embossed arrow on the new MAF sensor needs to face toward the engine for correct airflow control. Place the MAF sensor at the air cleaner outlet duct and air cleaner cover, fasten the air cleaner cover and outlet duct to the MAF sensor before connecting the harness connector.

The replacement process for a Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) requires beginning with turning off ignition power and disconnecting the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. First detach the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) then separate the air inlet duct from connecting to the maf and Throttle Body. The maf should be detached from its position within the air filter housing. The maf installation process starts with attaching it to the air filter housing then continuing with the air inlet duct connection to both the maf and Throttle Body. Attach sensors from the iat and maf devices during the end of the assembly process.

The replacement process for Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) begins by first shutting off the ignition while removing the MAF sensor harness connector. The retainer clips holding the air cleaner cover should be released first before removing the air outlet duct from the MAF sensor by loosening the clamp. Handle MAF sensor with great care to prevent dropping since drops can create damage while avoiding contact of both the screen at the air inlet end along with the sensing elements. Install the MAF sensor with a small amount of soap solution but keep solvents and lubricants restricted from the sensing elements. Detach the air cleaner cover from the MAF sensor location at the front assembly through clamp loosening. The installation process requires hookup of the MAF sensor to the air cleaner cover through tightening the hose clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in) torque while facing the flow arrow in the direction away from the air cleaner. Tighten the hose clamp holding the air cleaner outlet duct to the MAF sensor until it reaches 4 N.m (35 lb in). The MAF sensor installation requires securing the air cleaner cover retainer clips followed by connector harness attachment.

To service the mass air flow (MAF) sensor you need unplug the negative Battery Cable at first. Treat the maf sensor with great care and avoid dropping it or scratching make sure to not scratch the screen at the air inlet end; do not touch the sensing elements and do not allow the elements to come into contact with solvents and lubricants. Apply a little spo p/n 12345884 lubricant or soap-based one for ease of installation. The maf sensor should be disconnected from the air cleaner cover and air cleaner outlet duct using loose hose clamps. In the installation process, confirm that the embossed arrow on the maf sensor goes to the engine to signify the right air flow in the direction. Screw-in the maf sensor to the duct of the air cleaner, then the air cleaner cover by using clamps that are tightened up to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Lastly, reconnect the maf sensor harness connector and the negative cable of the battery.

In order to replace the MAF Sensor, turn OFF ignition, detach the MAF sensor harness connector, remembering to follow the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Handling Notice in Service Precautions when dealing with the sensor. Be sure to remove the MAF sensor from the air cleaner cover and air cleaner outlet duct by loosening the hose clamps. While installing the new MAF sensor, the embossed arrow on this sensor should point towards the engine to indicate the right direction of air flow. Secure the MAF sensor to the outlet duct and the air cleaner cover and finally, connect the MAF sensor harness connector.

Remove the PCV valve tube from the air cleaner intake duct.

Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector and the IAT sensor electrical connector.

Take out the MAF sensor from the air filter housing.

Reattach the air inlet duct to the MAF sensor and the throttle body.

Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector followed by the MAF sensor electrical connector.

Tighten the hose clamp to 4 Nm (35 lb in.) to attach the air cleaner outlet duct to the MAF sensor.

Reconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.

Loosen the clamps (2,6) and remove the air cleaner intake duct with the MAF sensor from the throttle body and the air cleaner housing cover.

Take out the MAF sensor from the air filter housing.

Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.

Start and idle the engine while inspecting the air intake duct for leaks.

Turn OFF the ignition.

Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve tube from the air cleaner intake duct.

Take out the MAF sensor from the air filter housing.

Install the MAF sensor to the air cleaner intake duct and tighten the clamp to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

Remove the screws holding the MAF sensor to the throttle body and take the MAF sensor off the throttle body.

Remove the air inlet duct.

Install the air cleaner cover by fastening the retainer clips, reconnect the MAF sensor harness connector, and finally reconnect the negative battery cable.

Turn OFF the ignition and disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.

Turn OFF the ignition.

Handle the sensor carefully to avoid dropping it, damaging the screen on the air inlet end, touching the sensing elements, or allowing solvents and lubricants to contact the sensing elements.

Attach the air cleaner outlet duct to the MAF sensor, also tightening the hose clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

Disconnect the air cleaner cover from the front of the MAF sensor by loosening the hose clamp.
