2001 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The replacement process for crankshaft position (CKP) sensor begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable while hoisting the vehicle. First remove the right inner fender access cover then the crankshaft Harmonic Balancer. Use a pry bar only for the ckp sensor shield removal before disconnecting the sensor electrical connector. Then remove the two attaching bolts allowing you to extract the ckp sensor from the block face. The ckp sensor placement on the block moves next as you install its bolts while tightening them to a torque of 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After installing the ckp sensor shield you must connect the sensor's electrical connector while placing the crankshaft Harmonic Balancer in position on the crankshaft. Use the right inner fender access cover once you finish reinstalling it before lowering the vehicle and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and running the crankshaft variation learn procedure. This process needs three essential tools: torque/angle meter (J 36660-A), flywheel holding tool (J 37096), and crankshaft balancer pulley (J 38197-A).
