• Q: How to replace the wiper motor on 2001 Buick LeSabre?

  A: Before replacing the wiper motor, you will need the following tools: Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232) and Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529). Remove the wiper arms and the air inlet grille panel to begin with. Next remove the 3 bolts and 2 nuts that help to hold the windshield frame reinforcement, then remove the reinforcing. Rotate the wiper motor crank arm at the park position to the opposite location and remove the harness grommet in the plenum hole. Release the wiper motor harness connector and shove the harness and grommet through the plenum hole. Take out three screws that hold the wiper system drive module and extract the module from the vehicle. Use the Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232) to disconnect the drive link from the wiper motor crank arm and remove the screws fastening the wiper motor, remove the motor from the wiper drive system module. For installation, connect the wiper motor to the wiper drive system module by screwing with 8 N.m (71 lb in). Finally, add the drive link into the wiper motor crank arm using the Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529), lower the wiper module down into the upper plenum with the motor nose down with the wiper module and then rotate it to have the motor nose at the rear of the vehicle. Screw the wiper drive system module using three screws by tighten them to 8 N.m (71 lb in). Push the harness and grommet through the plenum hole, connect the connector the wiper motor harness connector and install the harness grommet. Finally, re-install the windshield frame reinforcement with the three bolts and the two nuts, tightening up to 9 N.m (80 lb in) followed by the air inlet grille panel and the wiper arms. Run the wipers to confirm its function.
