2001 Buick Park Avenue Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front wheel bearing on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Start repair work on front wheel bearings as you need to lift and stabilize the vehicle. Locate the tire and wheel before cleaning and lubricating the drive axle threads. Push a screwdriver or drift punch between the caliper and rotor to stop them from moving before you remove the wheel axle nut. Unplug the abs sensor while pulling out the brake rotor from its position. Mute the Wheel Bearing/hub retaining bolts during your work. Remember to replace the hub and bearing as an assembled part. Extract both Wheel Bearing and hub from their position in the Steering Knuckle while removing the dust shield. The j 28733-b tool separates the hub and bearing unit from its drive axle position. Scrape away both rust and foreign elements from inside the knuckle mounting face and chamber for correct bearing placement on the knuckle. To prepare the assembly for installation remove its protecting plastic film but handle the knuckle and hub units only through their abs sensor space. Put in the dust shield with care and without injuring the sealing lip of the bearing or the hub and bolt assembly. Use grease in the Steering Knuckle bore before placing the Wheel Bearing/hub assembly with dust shield onto it. Fasten the Wheel Bearing and hub bolts and torque them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs). Use the new drive axle nut to pull the Wheel Bearing/hub toward the axle shaft then reattach the front wheel speed sensor abs connector and fasten its holder to the dust shield. After putting on the brake rotor push a drill bit or screwdriver between caliper and rotor to keep the rotor still then fasten the drive axle nut to 145 nm (107 ft. Lbs.). End by adding the tire and wheel assembly below the vehicle.
