    Q:
How to Replace the Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub (FE1, FE3) on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the front wheel bearing and hub (FE1, FE3) you must first lift the vehicle and prop it up with the frame while suspending the control arms. First take off the wheel and tire before removing the wheel drive shaft nut and wheel assembly. Findle the wheel hub with a large flat tool before turning the rotor and unscrew the caliper bolts to lift away the caliper. Separate the rotor from the vehicle and take off the speed sensor connector from its dust shield. Pull off the retaining bolts and the dust shield from the transmission while placing it in park position. You should use the front hub spindle remover (J28733-B) to split the hub and bearing from the drive axle but you must keep them together for replacement. Clean all surfaces of the knuckle mounting face, bore, and chamfer before installing the bearing by allowing the components to fit correctly together. Also keep from holding the knuckle or hub assembly by the abs sensor wire for better results. Put transmission in neutral and push the dust shield into place while keeping the bearing seal on its rim. Then add the hub and bearing unit to the drive axle with minimal grease on its bottom surface. Take off the plastic protection shield from the brand new hub and bearing unit before you put it in place. Use the drive axle nut to fit the hub assembly to the axle before adding the hub bolts which must be tightened to 130 nm (96 ft. Lbs.). Secure the front wheel speed sensor on the dust shield while adding the rotor and caliper unit between its bolts before tightening them. Push a large flat-head tool between brake rotor and caliper to stop turning while you compress the wheel drive shaft nut to 160 nm pressure. End the process by fitting the wheel onto its rim before tightening lug nuts to 80 ft. Lbs. (125 Nm) torque. Lower the automobile to the ground.

    Q:
How to replace the front wheel bearing on Chevrolet Monte Carlo? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you start the front wheel drive shaft bearing replacement you need to elevate and hold the vehicle. First take off the tire and wheel after that disconnect the speed sensor connector from its bracket and extract it. Unbolt and take off both the Brake Caliper Bracket and brake caliper along with the brake rotor. Set the spindle remover tool (J 28733-B) on the Wheel Hub with three wheel nuts. Remove the drive shaft wheel nut before placing the spindle remover over the Wheel Bearing. Push the wheel drive shaft out of the Wheel Bearing/hub with the spindle remover (J 28733-B), then take off and discard all Wheel Bearing/hub bolts to prevent damage to the wheel drive shaft outer seal (boot). Put on the new Wheel Bearing/hub unit while using brand new fasteners and tightening everything to 130 nm (96 ft. Lbs.). First put back the wheel drive shaft nut ahead of sealing the brake rotor with Brake Caliper Bracket installed to its proper seat with brake caliper attached. Fit the wheel speed sensor electrical connector to its designated bracket and attach the end of the connector. Place the tire and wheel unit before lowering the vehicle.
