• Q: How to replace the wiper arm on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?

  A: Before working on the Wiper Arm turn the ignition to accy position and select delay or auto delay on the Wiper Switch. After the wiper arms stop moving in their inner position turn off the ignition and disconnect the washer hose connector. Leave your indication on the windshield using markers or tape before lifting the hood to remove the protective nut cover. Separate the Wiper Arm nut until it loosens from the Drive Shaft. If rocking fails use a battery terminal puller to pry it loose. Use a wire brush to clean Drive Shaft knurls before taking off the Wiper Arm at the Drive Shaft. To proceed separate the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm when needed. First put the Wiper Blade back before you put the Wiper Arm onto the transmission Drive Shaft. Position the Wiper Arm onto the Drive Shaft transmission and align it with the removal mark. Sometimes freeing up the Wiper Arm movement is needed during nut tightening but if the alignment mark shifts loosen the nut then reset the arm. Fasten the nut onto the transmission Drive Shaft with 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque using a wrench to keep the Wiper Arm steady. Use windshield washer solvent to make the washer hose installation easier onto the connector tube before its installation process. Clean position marks from windshield and start wipers to see if they move properly. Then shut the hood and confirm the wipers stay in park position.
